This retreat program combines the benefits of a daily yoga and meditation practice with daily practical lessons on mandala making. Weaving a mandala is a form of active meditation and art therapy and this retreat gives you a skill for life that you can share with others.
Every day will start with a morning meditation and morning yoga practice. After breakfast you will start your mandala making workshop and take a break at 12:30 for sound meditation and lunch. Mandala weaving will continue after lunch until 4:30pm each day, and then you will take part in chanting meditation and evening yoga class followed by dinner.
If you are new to yoga, you will get a chance to experience the benefits and learn the fundamentals of this ancient practice as well as relax and unwind in a tranquil setting. Over six days beginners to yoga will get a good overview of a traditional yoga practice which they can later implement in their daily lives. More experienced yoga practitioners will benefit from learning new innovative yoga sequences, strengthening and deepening their practice and getting into the routine of regular daily yoga and meditation sessions among the peaceful setting of our retreat centre.
Mandala making is a wonderful way to awaken your creativity and help you connect deeply within, the process itself is very calming and meditative. Throughout the six days of your retreat, you will receive daily personal attention and guidance into creating your own mandalas, a skill that will stay with you forever.
First we will explore the making of the simple 6 sided mandala, then an 8 sided mandala and finally we'll progress into the more complex 12 sided mandala, all by weaving colourful yarn onto a solid framework, with different techniques and tips. This process is healing in itself as it helps us to calm our minds, still the thoughts and channel our creative energy into something beautiful, bringing forth much joy and a sense of accomplishment as we admire our complete mandala creations at the end.
This retreat program runs all year round but we do ask that you make your booking in advance. You should arrive to our centre after 3pm on the day prior to your program start date, the next 6 days being your retreat and departure being on the morning after your last day.
