Following frequent requests from our Purna Yoga Retreat guests we are now happy to present a cooking course, where participants can learn how to prepare a few specialties from our retreat menu. During this one day course you will have an opportunity for hands-on learning experience of cooking some of our guests’ favorite dishes. We start the morning with preparation of our signature dish - daal bhat – which is a hallmark of traditional Nepali cuisine, but we like to add a healthful yogic twist here. You will learn how to cook a lentil soup and two types of vegetable curries – the type of the curry cooked will vary depending on seasonal vegetables. You will be shown how to use various spices to flavor the dishes, so you can bring some of this taste back home.
After lunch we will try our hand at making mo-mo – delicious dumplings with a vegetable filling, the spicy mo-mo sauce and a creamy vegetable soup.
This course will give you an opportunity to learn traditional ways of cooking tasty and healthy foods, which are the basis of Nepali cuisine. However we do add some of our own “color and flavor” to these traditional dishes, as our experience with guests from all over the world has helped us learn how to successfully cater to all tastes.
